Hot Flash Triggers
Menopause is full of twists and turns, and at some moments, absurdly painful and life-altering. Most especially when hot flashes are included in the equation. What some women don’t know, is that lifestyle, principally food and liquid intake is a big cause of these discomforts. There are four prime ingredients for hot flashes. Surprisingly, these are opposites each other. They are: Spices and Sweets, and Caffeine and Alcohol.
Spices and Sweets
Doctors suspect spices trigger hot flashes because they set off the temperature regulation mechanism, which initiate hot flushes. Sweets on the other hand, boost the metabolism. Metabolism as we all know produces heat. So if on some instance, you notice an upshort of heat after taking in these food, steer clear of them.
Caffeine and Alcohol
Caffeine perks up your day no doubt, this is because it’s a stimulant. It raises your blood pressure and increases your heart rate. This in turn, boosts the heat in the body, starting a hot flash.
Alcohol works in a different way. After alcohol intake, a woman’s estrogen is raised dramatically. The sudden ascend is reciprocated by a sudden plummet of estrogen, which may lead to the dreaded hot flushes.
